Preparing for the BAER

Ronan was supposed to have his BAER test done a few weeks ago but he came down with the flu the same week it was scheduled. Yesterday they finally got it rescheduled for next Tuesday. The BAER basically measures what level of sound is actually reaching Ronan's brain. This will tell where his hearing is actually sitting at and if he's improved or worsen. I'm thinking he's improved because he reacts more to sound.
For the BAER test he has to be put under to ensure he stays completely still which will make sure the test is accurate. All of his health problems make it so the procedure has to be done in the OR instead of an outpatient area. They had to coordinate with about four different departments of the hospital which was one of the reasons it took weeks to reschedule it. Since anesthesia will be used he had to have a history and physical done at his pediatrician office and that took place today.

Ronan weighed just under 23lbs and was 31 and a half inches. His doctor decided to check a platelet count since he'd been getting eye and ear bruises she wanted to be sure he was ok before the procedure. His platelets came back normal and they are leaning towards it being a result of one of his breathing medications.
Xander is going to be having some tests done at the hospital tomorrow. A few things are pointing to the fact he might have Celiac Disease. His GI doctor is out of town so they are doing a couple of minor tests to see. He will have a stomach ultrasound and upper GI done tomorrow if those come back suspicious he will have an endoscopy done when his doctor returns. Hopefully everything will turn out normal. We have a five am start in the morning so I'm off to bed early.
